MATCHBOX:

A bar in RINO [Denver].  They needed a sign - so I created a symbol as the sign.  The concept was born from suggesting a memorable connection between the object and name vs. a traditional word and logo.  I intentionally tipped the box away from the facade to allow the ‘matches’ to lean toward the street as if it were an actual oversized box of sulfur coated wooden sticks complete with sandpaper as a striking surface.  Due to its temporary nature and weatherable materials, it has been recreated out of metal - the concept still holding strong.
