INVISIBLE::ARCHITECTURE
This is a thought leadership piece to reflect the semester long discussion series built around lengthy and classic movies. Challenged with creating our own program and interpretation for a final project, I chose to celebrate the concept of a cover story. What better narrative than a literal dive into printing and more specifically trashy ads and words that are plenty without speaking truth or reflecting current events. In this manner, the ‘stories’ we are told or choose to believe, are as invisible as the architecture we inhabit. This project inspired the question to define the difference between a door and a window. Although both are openings in a facade, one [the window] is a cover story, while the other [the door] is a portal/threshold to another universe. The final was printed on newspaper, rolled into a right-size bread bag and tossed ‘paper boy style’ onto the submission desk.
